This piece is centred around a lovely, Victorian-era sepia portrait of a small baby sitting in an outdoor setting, perhaps a garden. The photo is framed in puffy, baby-blue silken fabric & matching embroidered doily set against the same silken background.
The wood frame completing this beautiful piece is an antique one originally purchased at Eaton's of Montreal in the 1940s. It is adorned with small, sculpted rosettes and leaves, some of which may be cracking or have fallen off due to its age. These timeworn imperfections only add to the overall beauty of "Sitting Pretty." I hope you love them as much as I do!
The frame on this piece also has two hooks on either side, in order to hang up the piece on the wall using a wire or ribbon of your choice. This piece has a "sister piece" titled "Young Woman in a Bonnet." also featured in the "Home Fashions" section of this shop.
